Buy Newinbox* Sti 2011 Staccato Xl 5.4″ : John Browning’s classic 1911 design remains a force in action pistol competition, but it underwent a significant change when STI took the basic design and transformed it into a high-capacity, wide-bore pistol. These guns proved to be extremely popular, and although the STI is now known as the Staccato, the trend continues. At the 2021 USPSA Nationals, the STI and Staccato gun models were most frequently used by Open Class shooters with 29 percent choosing, as were the Limited and L10 at 18 percent.

The 2011 Staccato XL continues the tradition of the action pistol.
The Staccato XL ($3,599, staccato2011.com) is a 2011 full-size pistol that features Staccato’s FlaTec system for recoil mitigation. The all-steel construction results in an empty weight of 38 ounces (without magazine) and makes all division weight limits for USPSA, Steel Challenge and IDPA. The stainless steel barrel is 5.4 inches with a 1:16-inch twist, with a well-shaped feed ramp and recessed target crown. Like the other 2011 models, the Staccato XL dispenses with the original barrel sleeve and uses a tapered barrel. Front and rear serrations adorn the breech, and a Picatinny rail on the dust cover allows for the mounting of lights or lasers.
Sights consist of a Dawson Precision front in a dovetail mount with a replaceable fiber optic rod. A red rod came with the gun, but any color can be installed. The sight is a Staccato 2011 T.A.S. adjustable smooth black blade. For those looking to install an aftermarket scope, Dawson Precision has its Optic-Ready System ($139.95) that allows a variety of popular reflex sights to be mounted.
Controls consist of a left extended magazine release, ambidextrous extended combat fuses, and a left bolt release lever. The G2 grips are well checkered on the front strap, sides and back strap, and the enlarged magazine is large enough that you’d have to be a total dork to miss it. The handle safety has a slight retarder.
